Andre Smith goes on IR
The Cincinnati Bengals placed former first-round pick Andre Smith on injured reserve Saturday because of a foot
fracture.
Smith has been a huge disappointment in two years in Cincinnati, where the right tackle and former No. 6 overall
pick battled injuries, weight issues and questions about his work ethic.
On Wednesday, Smith broke a bone in his left foot during practice for the second
consecutive year.
Smith started the past three games at right tackle with mixed results,
and the Bengals have a decision to make this offseason whether to extend his contract from four to six
years.
Cincinnati signed cornerback Rico Murray from the
practice squad to fill the roster spot.
The Bengals (2-6), who have lost five in a row, face the
host Indianapolis Colts (5-3) on Sunday.
